Classes

We offer classes for every level – from beginner through advanced.

Beginning Knitting Classes: weekly, year round on Wednesday 1-3PM and 6-8 PM. This class runs for five weeks. Learn the basics of casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, two styles of ribbing, increasing, decreasing, and binding off. Our first project is a child's pullover sweater, knit “in the round.” The fee for five classes is $60.00 plus materials.

Weekly Thursday Knitting Classes (Intermediate level and up): After you have graduated from the beginning class, you can continue to develop your knitting skills by signing up for another series of classes.

Donna Kay teaches at Lamb’s Ear Yarns every Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in a four-class series. This is where more learning and fun begin! Some students knit Fair Isle, Norwegian design, or Irish knit sweaters, others work on projects like:

For over 25 years Donna Kay has been a professional knitting teacher and designer. She is also an accomplished spinner. Her passion is “folk knitting” and she enjoys sharing her expertise with others. She has designed for yarn companies and knitting publications, including Knitter’s Stash and Christmas Stockings. In order to further promote traditional knitting, she started her own company, Tree of Life Designs.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from an expert in all aspects of knitting. All levels are welcome to join. Class size is limited. The fee for four classes is $70.00 plus materials. Please call for details and reservations.

Upcoming Special Workshops

Past workshops have included:

Classes are limited and reservations are required. Fees vary, depending on how complicated the project is. We are always interested in new ideas for classes. Please contact us if you have any suggestions.

Knitting it Forward: Throughout the year we knit mittens and hats to give to a local charity. We use “seconds” yarn that a major yarn producer sells us at a discount and we pass the savings on to you to knit for this cause.
